This is my favorite place in the suburbs for sushi. I usually go here on my lunch break on work days, but I bring people here for dinner, too, on weekends. There are some really reasonable lunch specials here, like a spicy salmon roll with 3 pieces of salmon nigiri for about $9, I think? Then they have the same for tuna. It comes with miso soup or a green salad. And the ginger dressing is REALLY good. Then, the kitchen/sushi special is really good. I think that's maybe $11? I think someone already mentioned here that it's a California roll and three pieces of nigiri, then your choice of kitchen entree. My kitchen entree of choice is usually fried rice... and it's incredible. A couple of signature rolls I love are the Rock 'n' Roll, the Chicago Bulls roll and the Chicago Cubs roll. And the ultimate is the Niagara, but all these rolls are pretty expensive, so I can't do that on every trip!! The spicy scallop roll is another really good one, and I think that one's just $6 or so. Additionally, the staff is really great. Everyone's always smiling and really friendly. I go here more often than I really should and so far, no mistakes, and fast service. And it can get really busy there, too. I've brought coworkers here, friends, and family, and everyone who comes with me will suggest it themselves later when I ask where they want to eat!!

Basing my review on a takeout of the lunch special, I'd have to say the food is just OK. I plan on going back to try the sushi and a sit down dinner in the future so it wasn't too bad. The spicy pad Thai with beef wasn't too spicy at all, and stayed in a big block...probably due to 10 minutes of transport home though. It was listed as spicy on the menu though, so that was a bit of a disappointment. It was filling though, and hit the spot. The potstickers and miso soup were both palatable. The sushi bar and the rest of the menu looked really fantastic, so I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to eat in--I will be back to try though.

I would recommend the lunch special. For under $10, what a great deal! You cannot go wrong with the Udon here. Absolutely tasty and the broth is definitely something special. I will be back for the Udon during the winter to warm me up!

Sushi was good but their Thai dishs was too salty to my taste :( I don't think we want to go back!

Promising beginning...disappointing ending. First time to visit. The restaurant is small, but nicely decorated and clean. It presents very well. My wife, kids, and I visited on a Thursday night. At 6PM, there were very few patrons, but by 7PM, the restaurant was over half full. We ordered Sweet Potato Rolls, Chicken Satay, Egg Rolls, Panang Curry, and Phad Thai. My wife really liked the Sweet Potato Rolls. The Egg Rolls were awesome...fresh, cooked perfectly. The Sweet/Sour Sauce had an apricot flavor to it. I helped my 4-year-old remove a satay from a stick, and could tell it was very tender. He had to go to the little boys' room (which was clean). Returning to the table, I said to myself "I just might have to give these guys 5-stars on Yelp!". I jinxed it...from there things went downhill. My curry arrived with tofu instead of chicken (which they fixed). Both the curry and phad thai were pretty mediocre...disappointing, actually. Most Thai restaurants do much better. My dish came with rice...but not much rice. It was the size of a scoop of ice cream. Of course, the whole family wanted rice (my wife is Asian), so we got 2 extra scoops of rice (@ $2.00 each). C'mon...rice is cheap. A serving costs less than $0.11 to make (based on a 20 lb. bag of Jasmine rice at Wal-Mart)...they probably get it cheaper...and they only gave us about half of a "serving" each time. I finished up the satay, and while the chicken was cooked well, it had little flavor, and the peanut sauce was not very good. Not sweet (I enjoy most peanut sauce by itself...but not this), and it had an overabundance of ginger. Appetizers are $5 - $7 and most entrees $9 - $13. I had hoped for better, but based on my limited experience, I will probably not return. Thai food is better in DeKalb.

I love this place. Mon-Wed 4:30-5:30 is half-price sushi (not the full sushi menu but a LOT of choices) Every roll I've had has been fresh, soft, and delicious. Their tempura is amazing and I've always received it hot. The regular sauces like eel and teriyaki are great, and their special house sauces are unique and just as good. The sushi menu is long and has plenty to offer for under and over $10. The Saki is smooth and fairly priced. The Fuji Fried Rice is excellent with choice of veggies, tofu or chicken. You can sub in beef or shrimp for $2 and $4 more (way too much IMO). I also like the Pad Thai here, but it's nothing spectacular, just good. I've had edemame several times and recently the egg rolls. I don't recommend either. They're both very plain. The website is well designed, you can order online, and they have delivery with a $3 charge and only a $10 minimum order. The place is small, but I've never had to wait to get a table, even on a Saturday night. I very much like the decor and the dark cherry oak chairs and tables.

My husband and I absolutely love Fuji Thai. We moved to the area about 3 years ago and are walking distance from the plaza where it is located and decided to try it and have not tried another sushi or Thai restaurant since. We think the food is great and the sushi is so fresh. I love sushi and I am very picky on the quality they have excellent quality sushi and good service. Its a great neighborhood hang out.

Shame on me for choosing to go here. No good can ever come out of a restaurant that offers two different genres of food choices, Japanese and Thai...two completely different worlds! I mean, would you ever walk into a Greek/Spanish restaurant? Me thinks not, so why then did I choose to go here? I was lazy was the answer; it was cold, rush hour, and I had lots of work to do..so there..you have my excuse. however, nothing can excuse the quality of this food. My wife and I decided to order some rolls along with some Thai food. We order the paparazzi roll and the Awesome roll. Now one would think that with a name like that, it would be awesome (that and the price of this roll at $9+). I couldn't be further from the truth. What came was a roll no bigger than your typical spicy salmon roll for $6 and with less fish. Presentation was poor and the knife was dull so you could see the jagged cuts on the sushi. The Paparazzi had a little more rice to it, but still not worth it. We also ordered a pad Thai and penang curry...hmmm..one of the simplest things to make for a Thai restaurant, yet why did my sushi come out faster than the Thai food? It took nearly 40 minutes for our food to come out!! AND the food was neither good nor bad..just somewhere in the edible range. Sigh..a pox on me for choosing this place. The moral of the story folks is that there's a reason why good restaurants are typically the ones that offer one style of food...not two. Therefore, my one advice to this restaurant..be Fuji or be Thai..but please don't be both. So until I see a change on your restaurant sign, I am not going to be giving you any more of my hard earned cash for mediocrity.

First Impressions are very nice. This place has very good, fresh and awesome tasting Thai. Did not try Sushi, but looks awesome also. While I love Sushi, I'm in love with Thai and this place is great and will even customize your dinner order to you liking, i.e. extra Ginger, more spice, etc. Mona is a wonderful host/owner.

This place is just a okay. Is it worth a try? Possibly. Would I go here again? Probably not. The sushi stinks, I mean I'm just not a fan of sushi at thai places and even then I prefer Oishii Thai's sushi which is right across the street. Their pad thai isn't sweet and authentic like it is in Thailand (because I have been :) ) it's more like smokey, c'mon, when I want bbq, this isn't the place I would go to. The appetizers and the scenery are what I do like, the place is simple, yet trendy for BG, and I liked the crab ragoon appetizer, and that's about it.

This place was horrible. The food was bland and we waited a long time to get our food. Do not recommend it.

  • Rimma A.

Where do I begin? They have awesome smoky pad thai for the unbeatable price of $7. They have decent sushi, and their half-off happy hour makes it worthwhile. The place is small but well-furnished and maintained. Their egg rolls are to die for. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because their miso soup is a little disappointing. I like it when it's chock full of onions, tofu, and seaweed, and here at Fuji Thai it's mostly broth.

YAY!!! We love this place. I'm not sure about this whole sushi/thai fusion thing going on, but for now I embrace it with open arms. The rolls I got here (philly and veggie) were great. We also got the crab rangoon which are HUGE. And their Thai dishes were also great. House sake was good for the price. Service was sweet and swift, we will definitely be back!

This is a great to go for sushi +more. There is a vast menu with great pictures. Service is usually excellent. THe most consistent food and service for sushi in the neighborhood.

I waited a long time for this place to open; it was originally Sushi Thai II, the first restaurant being in Libertyville. However, the name has changed and it is now officially Fuji Thai. I stopped here with my daughter after camp the other day. They have a great happy hour special...1/2 price sushi rolls from 4:30-5:30, M-W! A few caveats though-dine in only, no coupons and you have to finish...can't bring home any leftovers! Very popular, I didn't expect so many people to show up at 4:30 when they reopened (they close after lunch at 3 pm) We were the first to arrive and within minutes they were packed. The space itself is very cozy and inviting. I loved the exposed brick and the yellow ochre walls. We weren't there long enough to check out the bathrooms but I'm sure they were swanky. Service was friendly and quick. My daughter had miso soup and an eel roll; I had basil fried rice with chicken. Everything was delicious, I will definitely be going back here. I work less than 1/4 mile away so it's a sure bet. They have a lunch special but it's a little pricey at $10.95 and you have to eat-in...no carry out on the special :( I'll be seeing you soon Fuji Thai! YUM!

SEE MY ETA: 8/25/10 Monday night the task of conjuring up dinner for Girlfriend and I fell in my hands. So, we had two options. Order out, or eat cereal. I decided some pad thai sounded better than Honey Bunches of Oats and gave Fuji Thai a call. I ordered the California Maki and the Pad Thai and they told me it would take around 45 minutes to arrive which seemed a little long for thai food but they did sound really busy in the background. The food arrived in 45 minutes so at least they gave me an accurate time quote. I wasn't impressed with the California roll at all. It seemed more rice than anything, and the crab did not taste fresh at all. The Pad Thai was a little better than the sushi, but not by much. The taste was OK but I thought the noodles were a little dry and the sauce was not as flavorful as some others I have had. The tofu was good, cooked well - wish they would have put more in there! Will I revisit? Maybe, if I am once again struck with thai food craving after I've had a few and don't want to leave the house. However, if I have the option to go elsewhere I would before calling Fuji again. 8/25/10. Okay, I had a few. I was craving thai. Not only did the delivery person remember me, but they gave me a free sushi roll! They go up 2 stars just for that. The spicy crab roll is SO much better than the california roll. Also, I opted for Woonsen Pad Thai this time and it was much better than the Pad Thai. After this experience, I will say confidently that I will revisit (still will only do delivery, not dine-in, but in a pinch this is officially my go-to sushi/thai place)

Bad food. Fried rice was not flavorful, panang curry was runny and had no taste. The curry seemed like taken out of a can and boiled water added to it.

At first I thought they gave me just one roll when it was actually 2 thats because they are so tiny. Teensy bits of fish with teensy bit of rice. And not cheap. Fish was fresh. Tom yum soup pre-made and mediocre. Maybe ok for a light lunch but definately not dinner. Prob wont come back

I've been going to Fuji Thai for the past 6 months or so, and this place is amazing. I'm so glad I found it! They have the BEST sushi around! I love their California rolls; they are so fresh and delicious! I also suggest their vegetable spring rolls and the edamame.

Will I go there again -yes. Why-good service, fresh food and reasonable cheap for what you get. Not the best place for lunch as it gets crazy crowded, but not bad for dinner!

I am new to the area so my friends took me to this place for some "decent sushi". I ordered JJ and Playboy....OMG, that was by far the best sushi I have ever had. Now, I call in my order and pick up food from there for dinner for my husband and I. We both love it and we don't mind the drive for it. The only reason why I took one star off is because they are understaffed. The place is small, but it gets really busy and they dont have enough waitresses, so it took them a little bit to get us the sushi, but overall I think the food is worth the wait!

  • U P.

Had 3 different rolls. One was outstanding - the one with cilantro (surprising, huh). Two were mediocre. I don't remember what the name was, possibly "tornado" or "awesome", but the sauce on top of the sushi was a tad too much, it was thickly covered in it - which creates a mental disconcert. Anyhow, it's close to my work and the taste was overall great so I'll be back for more.

Went for lunch with one of my girlfriends. We had the lunch special which is soup or salad with a few pieces of sushi (Chef's choice) and a small entree. My friend ordered plain fried rice with her special and I tried Pad Thai for the first time (it was pretty good!). Also tried Miso Soup for the first time. It's not my thing, as it is slightly fishy, but if you like Miso Soup, I think this would be a good place to get it. My friend and I splurged a bit and got the chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Very rich and sweet! Yum! The prices do run a bit high, so go for lunch. Actually, we came at a strange time, just as the restaurant was closing for it's break (in between lunch and dinner), so we were the only ones in the place along with a big table of the staff having their lunch. Our waiter was a little awkward but in a cute way, and he was very sweet and attentive, especially seeing as we came in 5 min before the break. He ran to the chef to ask him if he would make us lunch!

  • Amy L.

Went here on Friday night. Service prompt and friendly. Tempura obviously from frozen sticks--- shrimp was pasty. Bubble tea good but small for prices charged. Fish for sushi was good. Thai green curry good, but chicken overcooked and a bit dry. Pad thai was inferior. Noodles were hard, and sauce was so so. The smoothies drinks were good (the boba tapioca balls were delicious) but small for the $3.50 price--- about 8 ounces.

  • Brooke K.

The curry was bland, watery and gross. It tastes nothing like curry. No flavor, not spicy. Curry should taste like coconut and should be thick and delicious. Guess I need to give oiishi Thai across the street another try, peanut satay was good, but doesn't come with traditional cucumber salad.

    (1)
  • Karen P.

I have come here at least twice a month with coworkers for lunch for the past year. Quick, friendly service, great presentation and quality taste of food plus reasonably priced. Each time we dine it is between 5-10 people and we all have positive things to say afterwards. Shrimp pad Thai is wonderful, miso soup, ginger dressing on salad, dragon roll, spicy shrimp roll, California roll, vegetable tempura yummy; I could go on but you catch my drift! You can order to go too! So good!

    (5)
  • Jessica S.

The Sushi was generic and their Yellow Curry was gross. It didn't even taste like Thai food. Go across the street to Oishii Thai and get a better bang for your buck, plus they have better Thai.

    (2)
  • Will R.

My wife's favorite place. Sushi is great. Atmosphere is excellent. She goes there for girls night and they love it. I love pad Thai but prefer it sweet. Like others said, it is more smoky here. Sushi and pad Thai is perfect combination. Just need it to be sweeter.

    (4)
  • Maggie A.

I would give them as many stars as possible. The food is a bit on the expensive side, but it tastes amazing. This is our "go to" place. I even like the fried rice there which is not normally a fave. The soft shell crab tempura is great and my non-seafood fan partner digs it.

  • Simone S.

My kids and husband and I love this place. The food (including the sushi) is really amazing. The service is okay, sometimes slow. It's pricey, but really good.

    (4)
  • Slava S.

The pad thai is not that good here at all. It is much better across the street at Oishii Thai. HOwever, the only positive of this place is their fresh crab ragoons. Sushi is lacking, thai dishes are lacking, the service is okay though. Place has a nice atmosphere inside, but food needs major improvement. Will not be back.

I was dying to try this place and with the kids being home from college, we decided to get a big takeout order (7 entrees). Over all, everyone loved their meal with one big exception; portions were small, very small. White rice containers were only 66% full and the entree containers with their meal was incredibly small. Something you would make fun of if you saw the container, french like. My yellow curie was good, but wasn't nearly as tasty as what I like. I'm going to share my thoughts with the owners in hope that they can change a little bit. We don't have enough different food in the area, they just need to "beef" it up. You should try and I would be interested in hearing your experience.

Pretty good sushi with some imaginative rolls. I had the massaman curry with tofu, which was too mild for my taste. Service was good and the room is small but pleasant. Very reasonable prices.

  • Dave R.

I like that they offer both Thai food and sushi, seems like many restaurants are doing this now. Its nice to have the option to eat either or both. I tend to get the sushi here more often. It is excellent and since this place is closeby i try to stop in often on the way home from work. The staff here is attentive and very friendly. They remember you when you come back which is really nice! The food here is very fresh and homemade, thai food takes a little longer than other styles of cooking but it is worth the wait! Definitely give is place a try, you wont be disappointed!

I went here on a whim with a friend of mine yesterday and thought the food was delish! Nigiri is 1.75/piece which i find a great price, and the rolls were great. I had the spider roll and spicy tuna hand roll - both tasted great, and the spicy tuna was SUPER spicy - just how i like it! They also serve bubble tea, but I found it too sugary and not as good as other places i've had it at. Price-wise was okay (the hand roll was 5.95, and the spider roll just under 10 dollars) and if you want extra sauce, you have to pay for it which i don't love, but I thought the sushi was great. I'd totally go again.

I've been coming here Friday for lunch several weeks in a row now. I love their Fuji Thai roll as well as the Double Dragon shrimp roll. The Pad Thai is also good here. Noodles are cooked but not over cooked like many Thai places. The Pad Thai sauce is rich and tangy, delicious. And the chicken is tender. I usually sit up by the Sushi bar where the staff is extremely friendly and informative as to recommendations of their own likings. One of my favorite spots for Sushi when outside of the Chicago city limits.

Great Thai and Sushi restaurant. We had Thai on a Saturday night, but I look forward to enjoying some katsu and sushi on my next visit! Great menu, enough room to be comfortable, well appointed small restaurant. Fast service, the food was on our table before we were done with our appetizer. We started with the satay, which is very gingery and amazing. I had the thin noodle shrimp salad, which was delish, and he had the cashew tofu and rice. Very pleased with our order and portions. They forgot we ordered dessert and gave us the check, so we reminded them. That's why it's one star short of five.

Fuji Thai is a good spot to grab lunch, due to their specials. The food is good and the sushi is pretty good too. The portions are a great size for lunch. Particularly, the beef pad thai is my favorite entree there. They also have the lunch specials for take out.

Good food but the wait staff are unfriendly and appears as if they don't want to be bothered. They look like they don't wanna be there. Come for the food but don't expect a friendly service. I will, however, rate the food 3 stars.

I love sushi and was excited to try fusion thai and japanese sushi. The menu is very extensive, and there are a lot of vegetable options. We ordered to-go and the food was ready within 15 minutes. I ended up ordering the ACA roll and tried the Fuji Thai roll. Sadly, the portions are very small (each roll is about 4-6 pieces) and the flavor is average. The rolls were neatly made, but fell apart very easily. They also do not take American Express :(

First and last ordering food from this place. Tried pad Thai- pasta was dry, overcooked and SOUR??? Also had the tum kha, I specifically told the guy over the phone I want it spicy. He insisted it's always spicy. What did I get? A watered down, nasty soup with cut up tomato and onion. I mean if I knew I would get shitty food like that I would have not paid $22.50 to be exact. WHAT A WASTE OF MY DINNER.

My current favorite sushi place! Great place to stop in for lunch. Fuji Thai is one of my group's regular places. It's within ten minutes from the office, and we're usually back out in 30-45 minutes. The lunch specials are reasonably priced, and there's a good selection available. Sometimes my group will order two or three sushi rolls for the table. Many of the rolls are under 10 dollars. The place gets crowded for lunch around noon, so getting there between 11:30-11:45 to beat the crowd.

Fuji Thai is a small little restaurant that provides good service and delicious food. The cashier who took our order was friendly and helpful with what to order. As I have mentioned from my previous reviews, employees should know what they are serving and what to suggest. Since we had never been there before, he suggested the Bangkok Cashew, Mixed Vegetables, Peanut Chicken Rama, and Thai Ginger. Bangkok Cashew was filled with flavors that left a good impression. The chicken was cooked perfectly as sometimes chicken is cooked for too long making it dry and tough. The special sauce they serve with this was just unforgettable. Mixed Vegetables was also good. If I had time to cook, this one would be easy to make and can be made at home. The freshness of the ingredients was what brought this dish to life. Most of the time, the vegetables we get seem old and bought a week ago. I would order this again. Peanut Chicken was a great dish. Although, I wish there were vegetables that came with this dish because for someone who orders for one and can't eat more than one dish would feel there was something lacking if they just ordered this one dish. Otherwise, as long as you order Mixed Vegetables and this, then it's perfect. Thai Ginger was also a good dish. Since I love ginger, there could never be enough ginger in this dish. As long as you advise them how much ginger to put, they will do that for you if you can't handle too much of the ginger taste. I would come by again for dinner in the future.

Still just 4 stars. I work by here so I order frequently. Everyone is very nice and they have no minimum to deliver. I tried the larb and it was crap compared to Thailand and still crap compared to the city. It was soggy and missing lots of ingredients. With the nice staff, I wish they could hear me out more when I ask for "Thai spicy." Dude, I'm not joking. Load it up.

The sushi is great! I've tried the rainbow, florida, and futo rolls - all very fresh and tasty! The presentation is very nice as well, which I always appreciate at sushi places. Their prices are reasonable, with rolls ranging from $5-$14. On Mon-Wed, they have a happy hour from 4-6pm (I think those are the hours) with 25% of all rolls. I haven't tried any of the thai dishes on the menu, but from other reviews it sounds like they are good as well! The only con I have is that the service can be kind of slow. Overall, I think this is a great local place in the area!

I have found this place consistently bad...I know people who have had food poisoning from here and landed in the hospital. The portions are small and the taste is bland and greasy. Not like some amazing places in Chicago. Cheap on their portions and Pricey for the wallet. Not a good mix. I have only had take out.

If you're in the Buffalo Grove area, this is pretty much the best you're going to get for Thai food from an independent place. It's nothing amazing nor special but it'll at least satisfy any Thai craving you have. I consistently order either the Pad See Ew (beef), Panang Curry, or Pad Thai. Maybe I'm just playing it safe, but it shouldn't hard to mess any of these dishes up. All my orders have been similar and have been correct. The Pad See Ew is a bit on the saltier side but nonetheless, it satisfies my Thai craving when I go. The setting is a decent size but it will not large party friendly for those wishing to go at any lunch or dinner rushes. Parking is available and abundant. Service is average - nothing special. 4/5 stars as the food is good but overall not the best Thai you'll ever have.

I don't often the time to review...but when service is THIS bad I can't help but to comment to warn others. Today, I ordered a few items at 8:15PM WELL before their closing time of 10PM for delivery online. They emailed me my confirmation and everything looked great. My family and I waited patiently and thought that they were very busy tonight..or something. But to our sad surprise, we got a phone called at 9:55PM asking if we had ordered food nearly 2 hours ago, and I said yes. The person on the phone proceeded to tell me that they "just received the fax of my order" and that the "restaurant is now closed, sorry". Of course this was the night that we were so hungry we contemplated going to the local Jewel-Osco and raiding their ramen isle. Thankfully there is another place that's open until 11PM to satisfy our noodle cravings so we shall not hunger. But BEWARE of ordering online, because I noticed that I am not the first person to experience this unpleasant surprise. Also, they offered me NO discount for future orders or anything...so order with caution!

What you see is definitely NOT what you get! When attempted to discuss this order with staff was told that actual orders NEVER look as they do on pictures but the price is still the same. Wanted to email the photo I posted to the restaurant but staff refused to provide their email address. McDonalds advertising at its finest.

We just moved to buffalo grove and want to try out some local sushi restaurants. The only thing I want to say is don't come here for sushi nor thai. They are not good at all. Won't come back. The food is below average sushi restaurant quality.

LOVE the Pad Thai here. I'd highly recommend trying it if you haven't already. Great lunch special: $10 for an entrée, appetizer and soup. I'd skip on the sushi here. I wasn't too much of a fan.

We had the same coupon issue as Anthony P. Real petty and in bad taste to do that to your customers. My husband refuses to go there and tells everyone the same.

My wife and I are regulars at Fuji Thai for the past few years because we live around the corner and like the food there. However, a few days ago, we had pretty much the worst experience that we have ever had at a restaurant. About 1-2 times per month we will order online for pickup and eat at home, which is the most convenient when you have a baby and a toddler. My wife always orders the same meal, which is the yellow curry with chicken, and we specify to have it made mild. However, this time, it was not mild, and did not taste the way it consistently has. Now, we have ordered this dish nearly three dozen times from them and its been absolutely consistent and delicious. Not this time though. It was laced with red pepper flakes and tasted watered down and diluted. Thinking this would be an easy fix, I made a phone call to see if they could correct it. The lady that I spoke to on the phone could care less about the situation, stating that they "always made it this way" and could not offer any solution. This did not change even when we described our history of consistent dining experiences and the consistency in the food we have always gotten. She refused to believe that this was an outlying experience and stated that they would remake it, I would have to come pick it up and return the dish we called about, but also that she could not guarantee that it would be any better. At this point, I was fed up, and simply asked for a refund of the meal, and she outright refused.

Best Thai food in the Chicago suburb. We dine in and take out food quite regularly. They have lunch specials which are pretty decent and a good amount. Lunch special comes w appetizer and soup of your choice. We usually get pad see yu w potstickers and Tom yum soup (one order), and fried rice with miso soup from sushi and kitchen combo( the chef adds 3 pieces of sushi and 8 pieces of California roll to your order). We tried a lot of other food too. Basil fried rice, curry fried rice, yellow curry, awesome roll, Chicago white socks roll, spicy salmon roll, sexy summer roll, khaosoy, crab rangoon, thai iced tea etc. They are all good. Everything we tried so far is well balanced in taste. Nothing is too spicy, too sweet, too salty, too sour, or too bitter. The cook knows how to cook just right and balance the flavors. Out of all the rolls we tried, awesome roll is our family's first choice. It is fresh, spicy and unique. It comes with cilantro, jalapeño and lime juice. Curry fried rice is the best of three fried rice we tried. Khaosoy is similar to yellow curry but with fried crispy noodles. Very unique and tasty but I still like yellow curry over rice better as the fried noodles gets soggy after a while cuz the yellow sauce is poured over it. Service is also awesome!! My order never got mixed up or forgotten. Price. It's a little pricy than regular thai restaurants. Lunch special is $10~$12, Rolls are $11~$13.

We ordered panang curry and broccoli & beef. The food was delivered within an hour and was so yummy (and hot!). The panang had plenty of veggies and just the right amount of lemongrass. I definitely plan on exploring the menu a bit more and ordering from here again!

We're locals that had been here once before and enjoyed it. Tonight, we were looking for a quick bite and remembered we had a coupon for this place in one of the local mailers. Atmosphere is nice, and the server, Mike, was really friendly and accommodating and the food was enjoyable. However, the service was slow due to the fact that all the servers were very busy and had to bus (clean) their own tables. This is worth overlooking, but the following scenario is not: We presented our coupon for 15% off, received the adjusted bill, had already paid and were getting ready to leave when the server Mike returned to apologetically let us know the coupon was expired (by one day) and that he would have to adjust the bill. I said this wasn't right, out of principle, and he went back to discuss with someone. A young Asian woman (presumably the owners daughter?) came out and showed us the adjusted bill, not making it clear at first whether or not we needed to make up the difference. It was very awkward, and the difference was only two dollars, but the fact that she was even approaching us seemed to be in poor taste. I expressed my displeasure and she explained that we didn't have to pay anything additional because we had already covered the amount in question. BUT when we tried to clarify where the additional two dollars to make up the difference was coming from, it became obvious that this would be coming out of the tip we had left for the server. We had purposely left this young man a generous tip because he was working hard, was really nice and tried his best. But the fact that the management would be petty enough to even approach us about a one day past expiration coupon AFTER we paid, let alone blame the server in front of us for the error and penalize him left us with a bad taste in our mouths. We made up the difference to ensure the server got his extra two dollars, but shame on you Fuji Thai for this silly incident. My wife is a veteran server at a very successful local restaurant and told me that they would never do something like this. I'm hoping that you at Fuji Thai see and read this, and realize that it doesn't take much to sour a relationship with customers that would normally not give a second thought to returning, but also may possibly recommend your restaurant to others. Was it really worth the two dollars to potentially turn away hundreds, potentially thousands of dollars in long-term revenue?

I've been here twice already for both lunch and dinner and was quite satisfied with each visit. The service was very friendly, and the ambiance was nice. Things looked neat and clean even though it's a small restaurant, and it was very well decorated. Food-wise, they also do a pretty good job. I feel like the ingredients are fresh and they flavor things quite well here. I haven't tried the sushi yet but here's what I did try: I have tried the Two Nation noodle dish for dinner one time. It was very good and savory. It has a bit of a kick so if you like a bit of spice and udon noodles, that's a good one to try out. Today however, I tried the Lunch Special (ends at 3pm) for $9.99. This price is pretty much the same as a normal single entree except that with a lunch special, you get a choice of salad/dumpling/egg roll appetizer, a choice of soup (Miso/Tom Yum) and a limited selection of entree (about 4-6 of the basics Pad Thai, Pad See Eww and some other stuff). I ordered the Pad Thai lunch special with salad, and Tom Yum soup and everything tasted very good. The noodles were savory, taste like Pad Thai. The Tom Yum hit the spot, and the salad had that nice nude color sauce that Japanese restaurants usually drizzle over for you. The general portions for a lunch special was right for me but it may look small if you're used to the gigantic plates. I would come back to eat here at the next chance. Affordable menu with friendly service,if you're in the area, definitely check it out!

Just picked up take out at this place, been going there for a few years now. Nothing spectacular but a nice neighborhood joint with good food. Sadly the quality has gone down drastically along with the portions, too. Ordered the Awesome, Fuji Thai , Chicago Bears Spicy Crunchy Cal roll and the Vegas Roll. This is normally enough for 4 but now with the reduced sizes , barely feeds 2. To top it all it was all squished into 3 take out boxes with all the rolls and sauces getting mixed up and leaking into the brown bag. Of course when I called to let them know I got the usual run around and fake apologies. Been a regular but will definitely not be going back. Very disappointing.

The sushi was edible but not exciting. I feel like the rolls were almost bland and even the caterpillar roll that we usually love was just...there. The sashimi was not the tastiest that I've ever had. The service was friendly, and not too bothersome. The facilities were clean. They do have a nice happy hour until 5:30pm on work days with half off rolls! I may just have to try and come back once again and try some other rolls for half off.

Poor review based upon carryout. Allowed for online ordering, however, without a working fax machine order was not available when at the restaurant at appointed time. Had to replace order and wait additional time for preparation. Had to ask for discount or other form of apology.

I'm huge on sushi--as seen in my past reviews, and this place is extremely disappointing. It's very convenient for a quick pick up since it is so close to home, but the sushi has no taste. I've dined in and carried out and I'm just not impressed. Their sushi is expensive, so i would think it would be a high grade fish, The quality of the fish is clearly not there.

Food Poisoning and No Empathy. Ordered carry out, the Chicken Rama, fried rice and two sushi rolls (spicy salmon and tuna). My sushi was not even room temp, it was warm because of the way they packed the carry out bag. My salmon roll was very sloppy, there was still some skin on the fish. The worst part, my boyfriend, who had the chicken rama, spent the night throwing up from food poisoning. He was suppose to fly to ATL the next day, he couldn't get on a plane he was so sick. I went back he next day to get a refund, the woman I spoke to was very skeptical, told me no one else had complained. We paid via CC, she said she could only refund us cash, I had to hand write a note stating I was accepting cash. Oh, and they only refunded us the amount for the Chicken dish.

Went there for lunch and it was completely disorganized. They were short staffed and it took a long time for someone to take our order (after we flagged him down). Then, it took FOREVER for the food to come out. Other tables were also getting upset. Definitely not a good lunch place if you are on a work lunch break. I ordered pad Thai, which was horrible. It was dark brown, greasy, and the noodles stringy. The California rolls were falling apart. I would try to be understanding since the only two staff were working hard, but the food was terrible too.

Since my last review in July of last year, we have been back numerous of times and I have to say that the quality of the food has improved more so than ever before! I've gotten the Chicken Teriyaki dinner combo a couple of times and I wanted to point out how great of a deal it is because for only $21.95, you get so much food! It comes with a choice of a salad or soup and Fuji Thai makes really yummy green salads, 3 pieces of sushi, 6 pieces of sashimi (Chef's selected) and a California roll, and finally the Chicken Teriyaki and rice. Their sushi/sashimi is delicious and fresh, and I never had a bad experience with the rolls either. Either dining in, or taking out, I am always happy with the food and service. Keep it up Fuji Thai! :)

I get this as take-out for lunch most often. It's a solid restaurant and has online ordering. Everything on the menu is numbered and has a photo. Here's what I'd suggest: - Spicy tuna - with cuke for crunch. Good heat. - New York - bigger than expected (8 pcs); cream cheese helps prevent too sweet. as a compliment to a spicy roll - Escolar sashimi - big pieces, very tasty - Tamago sashimi - good. Not the best nor the worst. - Kani Dynamite (15): - Sweet Dream (98): surprising little bite, asparagus is good texture, no rice in roll - Thai Iced Tea: good sweetness - Tom Kha Soup:#10 tasty coconut base with veggie pieces, order with shrimp - BG Roll #97 deep fried made for good crunch, asparagus is a welcome flavor - Kani Su Roll: light, good no-rice option - Tuna lover's lunch special Here's what I'd stay away from: - Tuna Lava: decent flavor, mushy texture, kani dynamite is better - 30. Cucumber Salad: awkward shape to the cucumber; not as acidic as liked - Double Shrimp Lover (93): sweeter than expected, asparagus is tasty, not sure if I'd get it again or not Kinda caterpillary - Unagi - not warm - JJ Roll #87:sauce was meh, no other real flavors

Disorganized, poor service, average to poor food and these are the positive points. Ordered some green tea when we sat down. If you held it up to the light you could see a faint yellow to it. Otherwise it tasted like plain hot water. We asked for it to be replaced and it came back with a little more yellow to it but still tasted like plain water. Green tea that's yellow, seriously? Ordered the miso soup. It arrived luke warm. For the entree I had the Unagi Don (bbq eel), it was barely warm and uninspiring. Now it gets worse, all of this arrived before my wife even got her appetizer. Her dinner arrived after I was done! Her pad Thai when she finally got it was good, which saved them a 1 star rating. Now for the service. It seemed like the two waitresses that were working have never waited on tables before. They truly seemed confused and unconcerned. Plenty of other choices to choice from.

Garbage... The basil fried rice was mush and the basil was stringy and bitter. The crab Rangoon was so large that all you tasted was cream cheese and fishy imitation crab. The garlic pepper chicken was ok, very mediocre, reminded us of a street fair stir fry. I would advise against ordering from Fuji Thai at all costs. We moved from Chicago to wheeling and have managed to find some good spots out here, but this mess should be avoided. Try I Am Siam instead as this is what we get for trying something new.

About two years ago I absolutely could not eat sushi. I found nothing that I liked until I stumbled upon this place with my girlfriend. This is the BEST place to get sushi. Everything they make there is extremely good. I've never had a better salad and the food always comes out quite fast. I recommend this place to everyone I come into contact with that likes sushi.

Half Thai, Half Sushi, half good... The restaurant is casual and comfortable, but that is where my enjoyment ended. I stopped in for a quick lunch, and left thinking about everything I didn't love about my experience at Fuji Thai. I ordered the Ginger Chicken lunch special, which included a few options. The ones I chose were a fresh greens salad and some Tom Yum soup. After I ordered, nothing came out for about 10 minutes, but then, everything came out. I don't like being served salad, soup, and my entree all at the same time, and I imagine most people agree. As far as the food itself, the salad was very basic, with some Japanese style ginger dressing slopped carelessly on top. It was also served in a small bowl, that made mixing it neatly very difficult. The soup had big vegetables in it, and lacked flavor. The tofu was also extra firm, which really didn't work well in a soup. The Ginger chicken was swimming in sauce, which was quite unappealing to the eye. The flavor was nice enough, but there really isn't a reason to serve a dish bathing in sauce. I love sushi, and try not to eat it at places that don't boast high quality and high enough volume to ensure it's fresh. I don't have interest in trying the sushi here, and probably will look elsewhere for Thai n the suburbs.

Went on a Friday night around 8:30 after the baby went to bed, and the place was about 2/3 full. We were seated right away by a no-nonsense hostess who also turned out to be our server. The ambiance is very nice - modern yet classic, with cool lighting and exposed bricks and ducts, but dark wood and a nice albeit small sushi bar area. The portions are large which makes up for the somewhat higher-end prices for a little Thai place. We had summer rolls (perfectly refreshing, a lovely starter), the BG sushi rolls, Pad Thai, and the garlic pepper chicken. My favorite was the latter but I'd get any of them again. Can't wait to try out all their good-looking sushi we saw pass by us when I'm not pregnant! So glad we tried this place and we can't wait to go back.

We were in the area and saw the restaurant and decided to give them a try..best decision ever! We got their sushi/Thai lunch special and we loved it - Miso soup, 3 pieces nigiri, 8 pieces California roll, and a Thai dish. I chose pad thai, which was good, but my wife had pad see ewe that was amazing! Pad see ewe is my wife's favorite Thai dish and she says theirs is the best she's ever had! The price for the quality (and quantity) of food was well worth it! We will definitely be back!

Ordered carry out: Bangkok summer rolls and pad thai for my husband and me to share. The summer rolls were way over priced. 7.95 for two short, fat rolls that were mostly filled with lettuce. And the peanut sauce was almost all hoisin and barely tasted like peanut. I guess the menu does say "sweet brown sauce" but ok accustomed to getting a peanut sauce with these. The pad thai was good. But the portion size for the 9.95 cost was not what I thought it would be. Probably won't return.

I would like to preface this review by saying this restaurant is on my way home from work and I frequent it very often! You can check out my previous reviews if you don't believe me! So, I always loved going to Fuji Thai because their half price sushi special coincides with the time I am driving home from work, so it was very convenient for my to stop by for a quick bite before going to my second job. However, Fuji Sushi decided to stop doing their half price sushi special. That's right... NO MORE HALF PRICE SUSHI! It is not 25% off. They told me this after I sat down. The server said they were losing too much money through this offer. My friend and I decided to give the Thai food a second try... I had it here once before and I was not very satisfied. So we split 2 rolls and a Pad See Ewe. I noticed that in addition to changing the promotion, Fuji Thai increased their prices on quite a few of the rolls as well. I found that kind of deceiving. When we received the food, we were pretty disappointed. The rolls were smaller and the quality seemed to have decreased as well. I still am not a fan of the Thai food. As other reviewers mentioned, the portions are small. I found the Pad See Ewe to be tasteless and lackluster in general. The noodles were over cooked... they tasted like slimy mush. I love Thai food so this made me want to cry. I feel horrible that I no longer like Fuji Sushi after it was such a regular in my life. I guess I will have to wait a little while and try them again... maybe it is just new management?!

My wife, kid and I just hit up Fuji Thai for the first time and can definitely say we enjoyed it. There was a crazy customer who was typical North Shore wannabe that was going on and on about the service and whatnot, but they couldn't have been sweeter. Pacing on sushi rolls, to app to entree was perfect. Constant refills of soda also, what more can a guy ask. I had the spicy tuna roll to start because I'm a sushi puss. Very good. My wife had the spicy California roll that was also delicious. We ordered the egg rolls as an app as a rec on one of the other reviewers. UNBELIEVABLE! They were so good. The homemade sweet and sour/thai chili sauce was freaking awesome as well. We both had versions of the chicken pad thai. It was exactly what you're looking for in your chicken pad thai. Just make sure you mix in your peanuts and squeeze your lime over the time. My wife had the woonsen pad thai with glass noodles that were so light and really just dissolved in your mouth. Chicken fried rice was also ordered since I really had a craving for it. It comes with most entrees for a couple bucks more, but not the noodle dishes. No worries. The kid was able to rock some rice and I got my fix. Overall, we unquestionably enjoyed our meals. I'm sure it's not the best thai or thai fusion you could ever have, but it is also $7.95 for chicken pad thai and if you tell me you can find a better price for the same amount at equal quality you must please let me know. Go for it! You'll enjoy for sure. Also, there are normally 10% or 15% off coupons online or in the magazine books you get in your mailbox. Keep on keepin' on!

I always find restaurants that specialize in two cuisines a little iffy but both the sushi and thai at Fuji Thai doesn't seem too bad. My workplace is in Buffalo Grove and so far, I've eaten the lunch special which is reasonably priced and they have several options for both sushi lovers ( for $7.50 to $10.95 and the meal comes with a miso soup or salad on the side) and meat lovers (for $8.95 which includes an appetizer, soap, and entree.). My particular favorite is the lunch special from both the sushi bar and kitchen. It's only $10.95 and you get a portion of a hot thai entree with three pieces of nigiri sushi (usually a salmon, a red tuna, and a white tuna), california rolla (not my favorite but i'll eat it), and a choice of either miso or salad. So far I've had it twice and on my first try I've ordered the beef pad thai which I did not enjoy. The noodles were sticking to each other and felt over cooked. Also they charge an extra $2 for beef and $4 for shrimp which is kinda ridiculous. The second time I wanted to give it another try. I ordered the chicken fried rice which they definitely give you a good amount of meat in your fried rice and it was delicious. Also the staff is very friendly and the service is prompt. I must say the lunch special gives you a lot of food and you will go back to work with a very satisfied tummy. I would recommend this place to a coworker.

Sushi - 5 stars Green curry was not what was expectin; it wasn't creamy and more liquidy Bubble tea's tapioca was frozen - these things I'd give 2 stars But I went before closing so that could make a difference

OMG sushi happy hour! They do have rules of the game but overall, it's an excellent deal. My mom and I had the spider roll, shrimp tempura roll, sweet potato roll, smokey crunch roll, and our favorite was the shrimp tempura roll. Our favorite roll was the shrimp tempura roll...we ordered 3 of them.
